European Universities Games Lodz 2022 – project activities

In July 2022, project partners met in a unigue circumstances – during the biggest university sport event in the World in recent years. It has been a chance for a few activities, providing opportunities to develop the project and the work done in it’s frame.

European Universities Games are bi-anuual event dedicated to students from across Europe – around 5000 participants came to Lodz to compete in 19 sport disciplines. Besides that, volunteering programme has been conducted, gathering over 700 volunteers from over 40 countries. Therefor, it has been a great chance to witness in practice, the matters that are also discussed during the meetings of the Uni4S project.

First part of the meeting was connected to participation in General Technical Meeting as well as observing the organization of one of the sports – beach handball. Then, project partners further discussed the handbook, notably its translation, the branding, and some potential additional content. Partners shared their point of views on educational events organised during sports events, an element that has its own specific challenges. Educational and side-events are another part of the handbook – as during EUG there has been over 30 side-events, it has been a perfect example how they can be implemented in sport event.

Partners concluded work done in the first part of the year and discussed next steps – in 2022 the work will continue on the handbook materials and partners will meet online. Next meetings are planned in 2023.
